My friend Jesus was prophesied in the Bible in the Old Testament and was fulfilled in the New Testament. Matthew 1:21 tell us, “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.” Saved from our Sins! Sounds great to me. Let us look further at some other scriptures, James 5:20 states, “Let him know that he which converteth the sinner from the error of his way shall save a soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.” Romans 6:23 says, “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Wow. We can have eternal death or eternal life! I think eternal life is much more appealing. And for those of you who think “I’m not such a sinner” well the scripture tells us in Romans 3:23 that “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”
So what’s a person to do? Well, I can tell you. Jesus said in Revelation 3:20 “Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” What door is Jesus talking about, it’s the door to your heart. If you will let him in, he will come inside. He will not go where he is not invited. Will you invite Jesus into your heart? Will you say, Jesus forgive me for all my sins? Let me share 1John 1:7,8,9, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” Right now, will you ask Jesus into your heart and ask Him to forgive you of your sins? In John 3:36 it says, “He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
I know that you want to change but you are scared. You are at a crossroad that will change your life forever. You have pain, you have been hurt, you have made some bad decisions in your life but you can be FORGIVEN.
There are no magic words to recite, but you may be wondering what to do at this point. Let me refer you to a prayer by Billy Graham,
“Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I ask for Your forgiveness. I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead. I turn from my sins and invite You to come into my heart and life. I want to trust and follow You as my Lord and Savior. In Your Name. Amen”
Just ask the Lord to forgive you and acknowledge Him. It’s that simple.
If you have asked the Lord to forgive you, I highly encourage you to go share the Good News with someone. Do you have a Christian friend or family member that you can share this with? Tell someone who can rejoice with you and be an encouragement for you.
